Aunt Sheryl & Elizabeth :-)

The person who has been the most eager to meet you since the day you were born (well, actually, before that!) is your Aunt Sheryl.  She has been so amazingly supportive of me throughout my pregnancy, and I text her pictures of you almost every day.  Your cousin Elizabeth has also been so excited to meet you!  They waited for a great deal on flights - and we were so happy to see them!!

I am so lucky to have Aunt Sheryl as my sister, and you are so lucky to have her as an aunt.  I am so sad that you will never meet Grammy - she would have loved you sooooooo much and spoiled you with love and attention (and gifts).  I didn't always appreciate my Mom, but now that I am a mom I better understand and appreciate all she did to put me and my sisters first in her life.  I know that you and I will go through many different phases of our mother-daughter relationship... some will be great (like right now when you love and trust me more than anyone else in the whole world, and I love being the one person who can comfort you better than anyone), and some will not be so great (oh, those teenage years are tough).  But please know that I will ALWAYS love you. 

Sorry for the tangent.  But when you hit the times when you are frustrated with me, your Aunt Sheryl is ready to be there for you with open arms and listening ears.  She is amazing, and no one other than your Dad knows me as well as she does.

Thanksgiving and first smile

Thanksgiving was fun at Aunt Dawn's, but now that you like sleeping in your crib, you did not want to sleep in the pack and play... so you were a bit fussy.  Aunt Dawn, Kelly, and Maw Maw didn't seem to mind and loved to snuggle with you, and you finally met our cousin Melody.

Around 5 weeks old, you gave us your first smiles and it was so sweet!   You like smiling at Mommy and Daddy and the sun above the activity mat :-)  You still spit up a lot, so you go through a lot of clothes, but that's OK.  :-)

Catching up... Month 1

Forgive me, I have been meaning to update this for a while, but time flies!  So, let me do a quick recap...

We anxiously awaited giving you your first bath (after your belly button was healed).  Your first bath was from Daddy and you loved it!

After your first 3 weeks, you didn't nap as well on people, and you slept better in your crib.  A little bittersweet for me, but I am able to be more productive during naptime which is good.

You started losing your hair, and it quickly moved back further each day :-(  But I am excited to see what color your new hair will be! :-)

 

Week 4 - waking up!

You have really changed this week - you spend more time awake which is neat.  You actually are quite good at tummy time which is very impressive!  You are much stronger than expected at this age!

You are pretty fussy in the evenings, and also don't like when you are buckled into your carseat.  You don't seem to mind being swaddled anymore, and you napped in your crib this week once a day (although most naps are still snuggled on me which we both love).  Adam and Brandon ask why you are crying, and I don't have a good answer..

I brought you to visit my work yesterday and meet my team - you were great!  Then you needed a good, long nap! :-)

Mitchell Visit!

Kristine, Nicole and Kyle came to visit, and although it was a quick visit, we were able to do a lot!

Adam and Brandon loved playing with Nicole and Kyle, and everyone thought Emily was a perfect, happy, snuggly baby! 

Emily likes to be warm, just like me... We went to a playground and you loved when the sun warmed you up!  We went into the shade and you started crying and fussing - we went back in the sun, and you were happy and relaxed!  :-)

Kristine helped me do a lot of washing and organizing of your clothes!  She was very efficient and helpful - and we got a lot accomplished!
